Creating the Perfect Home Cinema Room
Home Cinema Room – How to Plan What you Need
Home cinema rooms are becoming increasingly popular, as they offer a great way to enjoy movies and TV shows in a comfortable and immersive setting. If you’re thinking of creating a home cinema room, there are a few things you need to take into account. First, you’ll need to choose a suitable location – ideally, a room that is large enough to comfortably accommodate your chosen Blu-ray player and surround sound set-up.
Home cinema rooms can be as simple or as elaborate as you like, so it’s important to consider how much space you have available and what kind of atmosphere you want to create. Once you’ve settled on a location, the next step is to start planning your home cinema room design. From choosing the right furniture and lighting to selecting the perfect audio-visual equipment, there are plenty of factors to consider. Your home cinema room is a place where you can relax, unwind, and escape from the world outside. With careful planning, however, you can create a home cinema room that will be the envy of your friends and family.
To create the perfect cinema experience, there are a few things you need to take into account. Here are our top tips:
Getting the right Home Cinema Environment
Choose the right space in your home for your cinema room. It should be large enough to comfortably fit your seating and equipment, with enough space around the edges for people to move around. If you have a dedicated own home cinema room, great! If not, any room in your house will do – just make sure it’s dark and quiet so you can really focus on the movie.
Dedicated Space
In a dedicated space you can create a perfect, quiet and dark room in your home cinema installation, using special sound reducing wallboard, or sound proofing boarding, to absorb sound and blacking out windows to keep the natural light out. This will make a big difference to your viewing experience, creating a really immersive experience.
Occasional Cinema Room
If however, it is an occasional home cinema setup, you will need to be a bit more imaginative with your window dressings and lighting control, to cut out ambient light and get a real screening room feel. With the right sound system and screen or video projector in place, you will still create a great cinematic experience.
TV or Projector Screen
You might be tempted to think that a video projector and screen might be the way to go for your cinema room especially if it is not a dedicated movie room. Pull down the screen set up the projector and you are off. Whilst it is true that pound for pound you will probably get more screen size for your money, it is not always the ideal solution.
Projectors cast an image onto a projector screen which can be seen in full glory from anywhere in the room. The trouble is that as projectors get brighter to cope with the ambient light in a room they also get noisier, creating a less clear image. If you can create a truly dark room then you get a much better picture from most video projectors.
Surround Sound System
Do not underestimate the importance of great sound quality when creating the perfect home cinema. A good surround sound setup is an important part of any own home cinema. By placing speakers around the room, a surround sound system can create a realistic and immersive experience, making it feel as if you are right in the middle of the action.
In addition to providing an immersive experience, a surround sound system can also improve the overall sound quality of your favourite movies and TV shows. With multiple speakers working together, a surround sound system can create a fuller and richer sound than a traditional TV or stereo system. Whether you are watching your favourite blockbuster or relaxing with a good TV show, a surround sound system can enhance your viewing experience.
How many Speakers do I need?
Whether you’re watching a movie or TV show, surround sound is becoming increasingly common. The most popular surround sound setup is known as 5.1, which comprises of five channels (three at the front and two at the rear), with a deep bass subwoofer. While 5.1 systems were all the rage during the early days of DVD, there are now more sophisticated options available.
The 7.1 systems, add two more rear speakers, giving better movement of sound around the room. However, if you want an even more sophisticated surround sound setup, the Dolby Atmos, as used in some cinemas, gives height to the soundtrack mix, so audio can appear to come from above your head. This is achieved using speakers which bounce sounds off the ceiling, giving home cinemas a real movie room feel.
Home Cinema Lighting
One of the great things about having a dedicated cinema room is that you can control the lighting, making it perfect for movie viewing. When choosing lighting for your cinema room, try to avoid any bright overhead lights, as they will reflect off the screen and cause glare. Instead, opt for wall lights or floor lamps, which will provide a subtle source of light without affecting the picture quality. You might also want to install dimmable lights and smart controls so you can turn lights off and on without missing the film.
Home Cinema Seating
Decide on the type of seating you want. You can either go for traditional movie theatre-style rows of chairs, or more luxurious recliners that you can sink into. This is partly down to personal preference but will also be affected by room size and the number of people you wish to accommodate. It’s entirely up to you – just make sure everyone in the family has a seat that they’re comfortable in.
Finishing Touches to suit your needs
Add some decorative touches to make the room feel cosy and inviting. Throw some cushions on the seats, add a few blankets for snuggling under, and hang up some movie posters on the walls.
Stock up on snacks and drinks to enjoy while watching your favourite films! Popcorn, sweets, soft drinks… whatever your cinema snacks of choice are, make sure you have plenty to last the whole movie.
