Introduction to the Smart Home Security System

Smart Security Systems

Home security is not a new concept. From using dogs for home protection to burglar alarms and cameras, homeowners have always been serious about protecting themselves, their home and their belongings from danger and unwanted visitors.

However, advancement in technology means that advanced home security technologies are now more accessible than ever before. Because of this, smart home security is becoming increasingly widespread in homes across the country. Many people have smart doorbell systems or remote control security cameras to protect their homes.

What are Smart Home Security Systems?

You might be wondering how a home security system can get any better than that right now without hiring a security company. This is where smart home automation comes in.

By connecting all your security devices to a single Control4 smart home system, you increase your security capabilities.

What Security Systems do S.M.S. offer?

S.M.S. offers a range of security features to add to your home and improve your overall security.

CCTV Security

Smart CCTV allows you to instantly check on what’s happening around the home and outside. With S.M.S., you’ll be able to use the Control4 smart app from anywhere in the world.

S.M.S. Smart homes use Dahua CCTV systems to deliver a wide range of security benefits over standalone CCTV products. With a Dahua CCTV system, you can expect crystal clear, high-definition image quality on your home screens which will record up to 1 month’s worth of footage, 24 hours a day.

The cameras can show colour images during the day and at night will switch to black and white mode with infrared lighting. These feeds can be viewed from anywhere in the world. Turret-style micro cameras can also be installed inside or outside and spray painted for maximum discretion.

CCTV can be connected to a motion detection system linked to your Control4 smart system to turn on lights, send you push notifications or ring a bell and pop up CCTV on your TV when movement is detected by any of your cameras for advanced external security protection around your house.

With outdoor security cameras with night vision monitoring your grounds and hd security cameras in the home you can monitor the entire house from wherever you are via your smart device, keeping your family members, and your property, secure.

The Smart Alarm System

Our Smart Alarm Systems are a cut above the traditional burglar alarm which often triggers unnecessarily and external alarms often get ignored. Even the best home security system needs a response, and no one cares as much about your home security as you do.

Our smart alarms are connected to your Control4 system and can be used with a single touch of the app. The alarm is triggered by a range of features including:

  • Motion Sensors – Automatically turn on lights or send notifications when motion is detected
  • Glass Break Sensors – Installed around the property and detect vibrations when a window or door is broken.
  • Door Contact Switch – Detects when a door opens, so you know when someone has entered or exited your property.
  • Garage Door Sensor –  Detects when a garage door opens and closes, alerting you to any unusual activity.

Other Alarms

Security doesn’t only just include protection against crime. Smart home systems can be configured to work with carbon monoxide sensors or smoke alarms – unlocking all doors and windows and illuminating the exits.

For homes prone to flooding water alarms can be added which will also send alerts by push notification to your phone, if water is detected.

Door & Gate Entry System

Another element of smart home security is having control over your gates and doors instantly and from anywhere in the world. With a fully integrated smart doorbell/intercom you can experience live video calling via your Control4 smart app and easily your front gate or front door. You can also use the app to check the status of your doors and gates if you forget to lock them on your way out.

The gate and doorbell intercoms are available in several metal finishes and can be fitted flush in-wall or surface-mounted. As part of the two-way intercom system, there is an integrated day and night CCTV camera, so you can clearly see who is at the door gate, allowing you to make a better decision about granting entry. The intercoms can also have numeric keypads, fingerprint scanners or smart locks which

Unlike a Ring alarm security kit doorbell system, the Control4 video doorbell intercom is fully integrated with your Control4 smart home app. It’s not yet another separate app to find and learn, it can be operated in conjunction with all of your other smart home devices.

A door or gate entry system is also able to turn on lights when someone is granted access. You can even provide entry codes for people such as gardeners or cleaners (valid only at certain hours or days) allowing them to do their job without disturbing you.

All in all, an entry system is a comprehensive system designed to improve your overall security and convenience, to give you complete control, even when you are away from home.

Other Smart Features for Home Security

Smart Home Lighting

Smart lighting is normally used as a way of conveniently and stylishly illuminating your home and simplifying the mundane task of switching on, dimming or switching off. However, lighting can also be used as a security feature.

Having lighting activate and deactivate within a home can suggest that the house is occupied, even when you are away, deterring criminals. A smart home system can help you set up a schedule or a randomised sequence to help provide the desired illusion.

Lighting can also be used to draw your attention to alerts or warnings such as an intruder or in the event of a fire.
